
Michelle Legan is a doctoral intern currently pursuing her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Regent University. Michelle earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Regent University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and German from Christopher Newport University. Before joining Counseling and Psychological Services, Michelle gained extensive experience through various practicum placements in diverse settings. For the past three years, she has provided individual therapy and psychological assessment services in community mental health clinic, private practice, correctional center, and university counseling center settings. Michelle’s therapeutic approach is collaborative, client-focused, and multiculturally-oriented. Her theoretical orientation can be described as cognitive-behavioral with person-centered influences. She uses techniques like cognitive restructuring to aid clients in adopting more balanced approaches, in addition to equipping clients with practical skills and fostering insight and personal growth. Michelle strives to create a safe space for her clients and to provide compassionate and empathetic care. Her areas of interest include emerging adults, identity development, LGBTQ+ populations, trauma survivors, and mood disorders. Outside of her professional life, Michelle enjoys reading, playing video games, and spending time outdoors.
