The Chemistry—Pre-Dentistry B.S. degree provides a sound background in the chemistry, biochemistry, biological sciences, mathematics and physics courses that are required for dental school.
Students hoping to enter dental school in the fall following graduation should plan to take The Dental Admission Test (DAT) in spring of the junior year or in the summer following. This will allow you to complete your application early in the cycle.

Pre-Dentistry Courses & Curriculum
Students must complete a total of 38 semester credit hours of CHEM coursework, plus extra-departmental requirements in biology, math and physics.
Dental schools require a number of natural sciences courses, generally including:
- Two semesters of Biology, with labs
- Two semesters of Chemistry, with labs
- Two semesters of Physics, with labs
- Two semesters of Organic Chemistry, with labs
