INST 2100 - Africa’s Children
Involves the undergraduate student in an introductory exploration of African children’s roles in the politics, economy, health, education, culture, and work in contemporary Africa and the diaspora.
Requisites: ANTH 1010
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the importance of culture and culture change in an African context.
- Develop an understanding of existing child rights policies and ethics concerning working with or conducting research about children in Africa.
- Develop cross cultural understanding of the cultural construction of childhood, utilizing the knowledge of fundamental principles and concepts of cultural anthropology.
- Explain the importance of gender, marriage, and kinship in African family and cultural systems.
