OCOM 7200 - Clinical Skills Capstone Experience


The four-week capstone course will synthesize 18 months of medical educational experiences in an interactive environment with other health professions’ students. Students will perform and document a full history and physical exam and perform neurological and psychiatry exams. They will interpret various radiographic studies and practice skills in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, as well as complete a variety of medical records. They will interpret diagnostic testing in the context of clinical cases and apply pharmacologic therapy in the context of a clinical case.

Course Outcomes
  • Apply pharmacologic therapy in the context of a clinical case.
  • Demonstrate appropriate documentation by completing a variety of medical records, including osteopathic physical exam findings.
  • Demonstrate neurological examination skills.
  • Demonstrate psychiatric examination skills.
  • Demonstrate skills in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), including CPR and electrical defibrillation.
  • Identify a variety of common and/or important dermatological conditions.
  • Integrate OMM diagnosis and techniques in clinical practice.
  • Interpret a variety of radiographic studies.
  • Interpret diagnostic testing in the context of clinical cases.
  • Perform and document a full history and physical exam.
  • Perform and document a variety of focused osteopathic structural examinations, followed by appropriate osteopathic manipulative treatment.
