ENG 4520 - Teaching Literature in Secondary Schools
Content and methods of presentation for teaching literature in high school. Not applicable to Arts and Sciences 2000-level requirement.
Requisites: EDSE 3500, and EDTE 3730, and ENG 4510
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to compose developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with standards for teaching literary and informational texts in grades 7-12.
- Students will be able to develop assessments aligned with learning objectives to evaluate student learning in relation to literary and informational texts.
- Students will be able to construct models that demonstrate how engaging with multiple intelligences aids in the development of reading skills.
- Students will be able to explicate a range of strategies for teaching vocabulary in connection with reading.
- Students will be able to apply and demonstrate knowledge about a variety of literary and informational texts (e.g., young adult, classical, contemporary, and media) that represent a range of world literatures, historical traditions, cultures, and lived
