Mississippi State University (MSU) invites applications for the tenure-track 
position of Assistant/Associate Professor in its CACREP/CORE accredited 
Counselor training program starting Spring 2010. 







The Department consists of programs in counselor education, educational 
psychology, and school psychology and has more than 30 faculty and staff in 
two campuses ( Meridian and Mississippi State ).   The department has over 
200 undergraduate students, 200+ graduate students, including over 60 doctoral 
students pursuing degrees in counseling, educational psychology and school 
psychology.   Program accreditations in the department include CACREP, CORE, 
APA, NCATE, and NASP.    The department prides itself on its diversity of 
professional disciplines, including the diverse culture and ethnicity of 
faculty, staff, and students.   The department strongly encourages our 
faculty in pursuing cross inter-disciplinary collaboration in reference to 
research, teaching, and community services.

Salary: 

Salary is commensurate with the applicant's qualifications.    

                  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  The individual selected will teach 
graduate courses in counseling foundations, provide academic advisement to 
graduate students (Masters & Ph.D.), conduct research activities, and perform 
a variety of service activities.    

                  

Minimum Qualifications: 



Earned doctorate in counseling or related field. The candidate should have at 
least two years experience as a mental health and vocational rehabilitation 
counselor.   The candidate should also have a record of publication or 
demonstrate potential for research and a commitment to excellence in teaching. 
  Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Rehabilitation Counselor 
(CRC) or LPC/CRC eligible. 



For an appointment at the Associate level, evidence of excellence in scholarly 
achievement (e.g., research, publications, and presentations), at least five 
years of university teaching experience, and demonstrated potential for 
leadership in related professional organizations is also necessary. 

                  

Preferred Qualifications: 



Ability to teach both mental health AND vocational rehabilitation counseling. 
  Preferred qualities include teaching, research, and grant writing 
experience .
