The conference brings together undergraduate students from Athens and three regional campuses who are presenting their research and creative contributions on topics relating to diversity, multiculturalism, intersectionality and identity. The conference will kick off on Friday, May 7th at 7 p.m. in Baker Center 242 with keynote speaker Dr. Rebecca Wanzo, Associate Professor of English and Women's Studies at Ohio State University, speaking on "Dying from Difference: Understanding Life and Death at the Margins," with a reception to follow. Saturday's schedule will feature concurrent sessions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Baker University Center with session topics related to race, class, gender and culture. During lunch, conference participants will be able to enjoy poetry, dance, and an original play. I encourage you to incorporate synergistic pedagogical strategies to incorporate a combination of research and diversity into your syllabus as appropriate and encourage students to attend these events. This event helps to prepare our students for the world ahead and will contribute to their learning outcomes in several areas, including cross-cultural understanding, research, professional development, and the interconnectedness between theory and practice. Our efforts to educate our students for the future align perfectly with this conference. For more information about the conference, including the itinerary, conference poster and housing, please go to < http://www.ohio.edu/dae/conference >www.ohio.edu/dae/conference or call the Women's Center at 750-593-9625.
