The Department of Special Education, Counseling, and Student Affairs in the College of Education at Kansas State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in counselor education with an emphasis on school counseling. The school counseling and counselor education programs are CACREP and NCATE accredited. Faculty, student, and administrators at Kansas State University are committed to creating an inclusive environment that fosters academic excellence and values diversity. Kansas State is a comprehensive university with more than 23,000 students and the main campus is located in Manhattan community provides access to a wide range of educational, cultural, medical, and recreational programs and facilities. It is located 50 miles west of the state capitol of Topeka, 125 miles west of Kansas City, and 10 miles east of Fort Riley.

Required Qualifications

Earned doctorate in Counselor Education or related field (completed by May, 2011)
Professional K-12 school experience 
Evidence of or potential for scholarly activity
Strong potential for excellence in instruction
Experience with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications

Earned doctorate from a CACREP-accredited Counselor Education program 
Experience as a school counselor
Record of university teaching experience
Experience of integrating technology into courses
Knowledge and/or experience developing and teaching online courses
Successful supervision experience 
NCC and/or other counseling credentials
Record of involvement in professional organizations

Responsibilities

This position includes teaching Master’s and Doctorate level courses (e.g., school counseling courses and counseling related courses for students in other graduate programs) and supervising internship for school counseling students. In addition, responsibilities include advising graduate students, engaging in research and creative endeavors, seeking external funding, providing service, and participating in faculty governance.
