CACREP-accredited Counseling Program. Position Description: The Department of Counseling, Adult and Higher Education (CAHE) at Northern Illinois University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Counseling Lab and Field Based Experiences. The CAHE department is one of six units in the College of Education, and has both master's and doctoral studies in this CACREP-accredited counseling program. The qualified candidate is expected to coordinate the clinical experiences (Counseling Lab/Practicum, Internship), oversee the admissions and orientation process for master's and doctoral students, serve on student and departmental committees, and facilitate clinical based courses such as practicum and internship. The position is a permanent, full-time, administrative position with salary based on qualifications and experience. Required Qualifications: 1. Earned doctorate (by the time of appointment) in Counselor Education 2. Experience in clinical mental health 3. Experienced clinical supervisor 4. Evidence of commitment to diversity 5. Eligible for counseling licensure in Illinois (i.e., LCPC eligible) 6. Experience teaching graduate level courses 7. Effective oral and written communication skills 8. Evidence of excellent organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills Desired Qualifications: 1. Knowledgeable of CACREP accredited counseling programs 2. Experience using technology in teaching 3. Knowledgeable of the training required for school and clinical mental health counselors 4. Experience teaching and supervising in a counseling training facility 1.
