Call for Editorial Board Members
2011-2014

The Counseling Outcome Research and Evaluation journal (CORE) provides counselors, counselor educators, researchers, educators, and other mental health practitioners (e.g., psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, addictions counselors) with outcome research and program evaluation practices for work with individuals across the lifespan. It addresses topics such as: treatment efficacy; clinical diagnosis; program evaluation; research design; outcome measure reviews; and ethical, legal, and cultural concerns in the assessment of dependent variables, implementation of clinical interventions, and outcome research. The journal is published biannually; June 2010 and December 2010 issues are now available. The Editor is looking for editorial board members with expertise across various specialties, assessments/outcome measures and research methodologies.
CORE proposes to highlight "what works" in counseling and education settings, providing evidence-based clinical tools, strategies and interventions. Further, the journal discusses professional, ethical, legal and cultural issues in outcome research, attends to diagnostic procedures and concerns related to mental health and comorbid issues, and highlights innovative methods in research design and program evaluation. Thus, the overarching goal of the journal is to improve counseling practices and move the counseling profession more toward standardized, ethical and culturally-relevant use of counseling interventions, quality measures, and programs.
CORE is designed to disseminate evidence-based clinical tools, strategies and interventions. Essentially, the journal highlights "what works" in the counseling profession for various sub-disciplines with applications to other mental health professions. Articulating effective and efficacious counseling interventions involves standardized, ethically- and culturally-relevant use of quality measures (i.e., assessment, diagnosis), interventions (i.e., process and outcome research), and programs (i.e., program evaluation).
CORE includes (a) primarily evidence-based articles that deal with various counseling outcome research and evaluation practices; (b) conceptual articles that move the profession forward in terms of outcome research and evaluation, and (c) "teaching articles" that present best practices in research methodology in a clear, understandable manner for mental health professionals and trainees.

Interest applicants are to submit a brief cover letter and an abbreviated vita by December 15, 2010 to Dr. Danica G. Hays, Editor, at core at odu.edu
