Instruct, supervise, and mentor students in counselor education. The assignment may include course instruction in both the graduate and undergraduate programs, supervision of practicum and internship, and mentorship of students in general courses, clinical mental health courses, and school courses. Advise graduate students in counselor education and serve on committees. Maintain record of scholarly productivity by initiating research leading to publication. Participate in professional associations and activities to enhance professional development of counselors at the local, state, and national levels. Serve the public and constituencies of the department, college, and university as approved/assigned. Requirements of Candidates * The Assistant Professor rank requires the completed doctorate in Counselor Education or a related field and potential for scholarly research that leads to publication. Applicants who have completed all requirements except the dissertation will be considered. If official evidence of completion of the earned doctorate requirements is not received by August 14, 2011, the position offered will be a term appointment at the rank of Instructor at a lower salary. * The Associate Professor rank requires the completed doctorate in Counselor Education or a related field and substantial evidence supporting excellence in teaching, research productivity with publications in nationally refereed journals, and professional service activities. Preference will be given to applicants from CACREP-accredited programs with: (a) post-master's experience in school counseling and/or mental health counseling with children in schools, (b) experience in teaching and/or working as a school counselor, or experience as a clinical mental health counselor having supervised practicing clinicians, (c) experience with CACREP accreditation, (d) demonstrated awareness of issues affecting diverse populations, and (e) membership in ACA or its affiliated organizations. Prior university teaching experience is desired at the Assistant level; required at the Associate level. Evidence of successful peer-reviewed scholarship is desired at the Assistant level and required at the Associate level. Candidates with dual experience in school counseling and as a clinical mental health counselor will be given preference. Candidates possessing the ability to supervise/instruct within the school counseling program, as well as within the Clinical Mental Health program, will be given preference. Appointment and Salary This is a continuing tenure-track appointment. Appointment is on a ten-month academic year basis. An additional summer appointment is possible contingent upon funding and student demand. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and background. Progress in rank and salary require demonstrations of productivity in research, publication, teaching, and service.
