Start Date: September 16, 2013 (earlier dates are negotiable) The Rehabilitation Counselor Education (RCE) program in the Division of Special Education at Western Oregon University seeks qualified applicants for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track, Associate Professor, position. The successful candidate will provide leadership promoting a strong vision for the program and its associated offerings. In addition, this applicant must have expertise in teaching and clinical supervision along with a primary professional identity as a rehabilitation counselor educator. The RCE program was first established in 1974 and is one of the longest standing programs on the west coast. The program began as a RCD (Rehabilitation Counseling: Deaf focused) program and expanded to include the RC (Rehabilitation Counseling general) cohort in 1990. The combination of both cohorts provides an exceptional learning environment for students with diverse perspectives and life experiences. The program has been accredited since 1989 and has been the successful recipient of RSA long-term training grants since its inception. Graduates of this program are well prepared and boast employment in the field with over 95% employed within six months of graduation. Required Qualifications: • An earned doctorate in Rehabilitation Counselor Education, Rehabilitation Psychology, or a related field; • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC); • Knowledge of Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE); • Evidence of success in RSA grant writing or grant development; • Program development, coordination, and leadership experience; • Evidence of university teaching excellence in rehabilitation counseling courses; • Experience with supervising clinical work; • Experience advising graduate counseling students; • Evidence of on-line program development and teaching effectiveness; • Demonstrated dedication to multicultural education and social justice (e.g., GLBT, ethnic groups, social class, and disability status); and • Evidence of a commitment to working collegially and with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications: • Rehabilitation counseling experience; • Skilled in American Sign Language and work experience with people who are deaf; • Experience working with veterans and VA VR services; • Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon (or demonstrated eligibility for this license); and • Scholarship (e.g., publication, research, grants) in areas relevant to rehabilitation counseling/psychology. Responsibilities: • Work collaboratively in establishing future directions for the program; • Be forward thinking and engage in development of program innovations; • Take leadership role including program development and coordination of the rehabilitation counseling program; • Teach rehabilitation and clinical courses as well as advise graduate students; • Participate in service and committee work at the division and university levels as well as professional organizations and conferences; and • Engage in scholarly activity (e.g., research, publications, grants).
