The Education Department provides a nationally accredited, highly regarded school counselor certification and Master's degree program for graduate students based on CACREP (Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) standards. The position focuses on preparing school counselors to implement the ASCA (American School Counselor Association) National Model. The academic year work load is comprised of one course in teacher education, three courses in the preparation of school counselors, and additional time devoted to coordination of the School Counselor Program. Collaboration with colleagues both in the department and across the College, as well as with schools in the region, is an integral part of this position. The Teacher Education Unit at Keene State College is accredited by NCATE/CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) and strives to prepare education professionals who: * Explore the dynamic nature of the teaching and learning process; * Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors that meet high standards; * Understand the world from multiple perspectives; and * Contribute to a just and equitable world. Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, or related field, or expectation of doctoral degree completion by August 1, 2014; minimum of three years full-time experience in public school settings; knowledge and experience in school counseling and teaching, college teaching experience. Preferred Qualifications Include: Experience and/or knowledge of: leadership and advocacy in public schools; working with special populations; career advising, transition planning or college admission counseling; developmental counseling; teaching/program delivery in public school classrooms; supervision of school counselor interns; collaborative partnerships between higher education and public schools. Salary will be based on Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement, and is $61,720 minimum for the rank of Assistant Professor for fall 2013. An earned doctorate is required for the rank of Assistant Professor. A candidate who has not yet received the degree will be hired at the Instructor rank $54,950. and must be complete by August 1, 2014.
