About the Department of Counseling The Department of Counseling ( http://fgcu.edu/ ) is a newly formed and dynamic unit with programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and in School Counseling (for both certified teachers and those new to the teaching profession.) As one of six academic units within the College of Health Professions and Social Work, Counseling offers an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and an MA or MED in School Counseling. All programs are CACREP accredited and programs preparing School Counselors enjoy Florida DOE approval. Moreover, the School Counseling programs are accredited by NCATE through FGCU's College of Education. Recently migrated from the College of Education, the Department of Counseling is looking forward to expanding its course and array of offerings to add certificate programs and eventual degrees in the next five years. ABD from CACREP accredited doctoral programs will be considered if degree is conferred by August 7, 2015. If successful candidate is ABD, appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed contract. Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years teaching experience at the University in a graduate counseling program. Experience with CACREP accreditation.
