Session #1 | Location of Self-Creating Safety and Acknowledging Intersectionality in Supervision through Ethical Self-Disclosure| 9:00am - 10:30am | Justine A. Eicker, MS, LPC
Description: Location of Self (LOS) is a therapeutic process where counselor self-discloses his/her/their social locations and invites open conversation about how intersection of identities of the counselor and client may be helpful or limiting in the therapeutic process and relationship. This presentation adapts LOS to supervision and how it can be used to strengthen and support a safe and collaborative supervisory relationship. Exploration of foundations of LOS, how to include it in supervision ethically, and the benefits, challenges, and fears around this type of self-disclosure will also be addressed. There will be an opportunity to practice LOS and reflection on the process.

Session #2 | The Role of Secure Attachment in Counseling Supervision: An Asset to Ethical Decision Making | 10:45am-12:15pm | Kailey Bradley, LPCC-S, NCC, FT & Sarah Hatch, MA, LPCC-S

Description: Trust, security, and safety are hallmarks of a secure attachment. In this training, a secure attachment will be held up as aspirational within the counseling supervision relationship as secure attachments facilitate a brave space to explore common ethical dilemmas that emerge within the therapeutic space. Specific strategies on the development of secure attachment with supervision will be discussed in this training with additional attention to common barriers. Overall, the training will focus on how ethical challenges that emerge in the counseling field can be buffered and attended to through a secure supervisory relationship.
