Dear Dr. Tamarine Foreman,
I am Rui Ding, a doctoral student and research assistant for Assistant Professor Dr. Randall Boen at the University of Iowa. Our team is conducting a study that aims to explore the attitudes of counselors in training toward individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
Specifically, we want to collect data from graduate students in CACREP accredited Counseling Education Programs across the United States. We kindly request your assistance in recruiting currently enrolled graduate-level students (e.g., M.A./M.S., M.A.Ed., and Ph.D.) from your program to participate in our study. The participants will be asked to complete an anonymous survey that should take around 10-15 minutes. However, we cannot offer compensation for this study. Our study is focused on examining attitudinal differences between two diagnosable conditions, schizophrenia spectrum disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder, as depicted in written vignettes. We aim to replicate a previous study conducted as part of Dr. Randall's dissertation and explore the effects of COVID-19 on mental health stigma.
We have received approval from the Human Subjects Office at the University of Iowa (IRB approval #202309192). We request that your consider distributing the attached email invitation to current students enrolled at your university. We have attached an IRB-approved email request that may be used among students in your program.
