PACE Internship opportunity for 2016-17 fall and spring As part of The Program to Aid Career Exploration (PACE), which is an on-campus, internship-like work program sponsored by Ohio University, Institute of Multiphase and Corrosion technology (ICMT) (www.corrosioncenter.ohiou.edu< http://www.corrosioncenter.ohiou.edu > ) offers one position for "Corrosion Modeling Application Engineer" to all undergraduate students, eligible for PACE program. Please find some quick facts about PACE program below (more at www.ohio.edu/financialaid/employment/emp_pace.cfm< http://www.ohio.edu/financialaid/employment/emp_pace.cfm > ). * Hours: up to 10 hours per week for 15 weeks per semester * Pay: $8.10 per hour or current Ohio minimum wage * To be eligible, students must have: * completed 15 semester hours of coursework at Ohio University * maintained at least 2.3 accumulative grade point average * demonstrate a need for earning * Must be enrolled during the semesters of employment * Undergraduate students only * Position available for summer, fall and spring semesters * Students may NOT hold a federal work-study and a PACE position at the same time APPLY TO PACE POSITION AS1731100 (Corrosion Modeling Application Engineer) www.ohio.edu/financialaid/employment/emp_pace.cfm< http://www.ohio.edu/financialaid/employment/emp_pace.cfm > LAST DATE TO APPLY APRIL 8, 2016 For more information contact Arkopaul Sarkar ( sarkara1 at ohio.edu <mailto: sarkara1 at ohio.edu >) Description of the position Researchers in Institute of Corrosion and Multiphase Institute (ICMT) have been working with a consortium of the world's leading oil and chemical companies for more than a decade to come up with new ways to deal with the corrosion of pipelines that carry crude oil to the refineries, often across hundreds of miles of land and ocean floor. As part of other corrosion research related deliverables, ICMT also actively develop and maintain corrosion prediction software called MULTICORP(c)( https://www.ohio.edu/engineering/corrosion/research/products/multicorp/index.cfm ), which is currently used by hundreds of researchers, engineers, and industrial R&D departments, from across the world. In this proposed PACE position, the participant student will require assisting the software development team of ICMT in their daily operations, such as requirement gathering, application testing, technical documentation, software packaging and delivery, software version management, user and license management. As part of our agile development strategy, the student is also required to collaborate with researchers, professors, and graduate students from different disciplines (e.g. Chemical, mechanical, civil engineering) for gathering requirements and supporting their software development effort. This position doesn't necessarily require software programming skills; however, students with exposure and interest in programming may be able to contribute more to this project. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
