Wednesday October 10th at 7:30pm in ARC 315, ACM will host a talk by Dr. Sergio Lopez-Permouth. He will be giving a presentation on Error-Correcting Codes, the full abstract is below. Abstract: We live in the information age; assuring that information does not get lost or corrupted as we store it, duplicate it, or transmit it is a central issue in today's communications. In this talk, we will discuss a few easy to grasp error-correcting schemes. These examples will hopefully give the audience a feel for the fascinating challenges and remarkable accomplishments found in this fascinating discipline, which lives at the border between pure mathematics and information technology.
