Associate Professor | Early Childhood Education

Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Dr. Debra Dunning is an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at OHIO Lancaster. She brings over 18 years of combined teaching experience -10 years at Ohio University Lancaster, 6 years at Ashland University, and 2 years at The Ohio State University—along with deep expertise in child development and early childhood education.

Dr. Dunning earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University, and both her Master’s degree in Human Ecology and Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from The Ohio State University. 

Since 2013, Dr. Dunning has served Ohio University Lancaster in various instructional roles, progressing to her current rank as Associate Professor. Her work is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of children through quality education and community engagement, preparing the next generation of early childhood professionals with a collaborative and passionate approach.
