International Credential Requirements

Outlined below are the requirements for applicants with international credentials. Find information tabs that list country-specific requirements, instructions on how to submit documents for the application, and directions on submitting official academic documents listed on your "To Do List" after admission.

What To Submit

The Graduate College only accepts scanned copies of documents for international admission purposes. You may upload the documents with the  application . If you cannot provide the documents while completing the application, you may upload them to your Application Portal after the application has been submitted. 

  • A digital "email transcript" sent directly to the Graduate College ( graduate@ohio.edu ) by the issuing university can be used for initial admission review. If offered admission, the student must provide an official transcript as described in the "After Admission" section of this page.

Transcripts from non-U.S. institutions must: 
•   Show the seal and original signature of the school and school official 
•   Clearly show the name and address of the institution 
•   Show the date you entered and left the institution and the date any degree was earned
•   Show all courses taken and grades received, and the system of grading used, indicating the highest mark and the lowest passing mark. 

*If English is not the language of instruction, you must provide the document in the original language and an English translation.

Only translations by the degree-issuing university, a  NACES  organization, an  EducationUSA  office, or the Ministry of Education are acceptable unless otherwise noted.

Additional information

A three(3)-year bachelor's degree from Australia is NOT considered to be equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree. However, additional graduate-level course work could be considered for equivalency.

Additional Information

A three(3)-year bachelor's degree from India is NOT considered to be equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree. However, additional graduate-level course work could be considered for equivalency.

Official documents are required after admission. There are three options to submit official documents. 

Option #1: Mail the documents to the Graduate College. Request the issuing institution to mail the official documents in a university-sealed envelope to:

If you mail your document to our office, the document cannot be returned to you . If you only have one copy of your documents and you need them returned to you, do not choose this option. 
  

Option #2: Schedule a day and time to temporarily drop off your documents to be scanned and returned. 
Make an appointment to meet a staff member at the Graduate College. They will take the documents, make copies, and return them during the appointment.

In order to be considered official, the evaluation must:
