Application Process for Physical Therapy (DPT)

Application

Applications for admission to the DPT program at Ohio University are submitted through PTCAS , the Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service. PTCAS is a service of the American Physical Therapy Association. You must create a PTCAS account to apply.

During the initial application process, you are not required to complete an Ohio University Supplemental Application. Completion of this application is only required of students who are extended an offer to Preview Day.

International students are required to meet all University English Proficiency requirements . TOEFL or IELTS scores should be submitted in PTCAS.

Submission of Grades

At the end of the fall semester in which you are applying, submit a transcript with fall grades to the Department of Physical Therapy as soon as it is available. Send the transcript to:

Admissions Timeline Overview

The following timeline is provided to give prospective candidates a general sense of the admissions process. While these dates serve as a guide, specific deadlines may vary slightly based on the volume of applications and internal processing times.

  • Admissions Cycle: The admissions cycle generally opens at the beginning of July and closes at the beginning of October.
  • Application Review: The admissions team will thoroughly review all submitted applications as soon as verified through PTCAS through the month of October.
  • Notification of Admission Status: Our goal is to notify applicants of their admission status (invite to interview, waitlist to interview, non-competitive) by the beginning of November.
  • Preview Day/Interview Day: This year, Preview Day will take place on November 15th and 16th, 2024.
  • Notification of Offer: The admissions team aims to send out offers of acceptance within 2 weeks of completion of interviews.

Please note, these dates are intended to provide guidance and may shift slightly based on program needs and external factors.

Preview/Interview Day

Eligible, competitive applicants will be invited to a Preview/Interview Day. Candidates will be notified via email if they have been selected for interview at Preview Day.

The event gives applicants an opportunity to view the facilities, meet current faculty and students, and evaluate the program curriculum and philosophy. There is also an individual session with a PT faculty member.

This event will include:

  • Tours of the Ohio University campus and Physical Therapy facilities
  • Overview of the Physical Therapy Curriculum and philosophy
  • Opportunity to hear about research projects being conducted by faculty and staff
  • Information about financial aid
  • Meetings with faculty and students
  • Open-ended sessions, both group and individual, for applicants to ask faculty and students pertinent questions regarding our program
