James Edward Palmer autobiography written at 73 and photos, 1904 - 1906
Scope and Contents
Holograph manuscript notebook containing 166 pages of James Edward Palmer's account of his life as a sailor and as a member of the London Fire Brigade. It was written when Palmer was 73 years old (see page 161.) The notebook also contains an unlabeled photograph of three people and a 1906 postcard to Palmer's family.

Biographical note
James Edward Palmer was born in 1831 in Chatham, Kent, England to John and Ann Mary Palmer. He was a sailor from 1844 to 1853 on the H. M. S. Samarang, H.M.S. Meander, and H. M. S. Hastings. He was a member of the London Fire Brigade from 1854 to 1885.
