History of the Keystone Furnace
The Keystone Furnace was the second iron furnace constructed in Jackson County, Ohio. Iron from the furnace was shipped via Raccoon Creek when the water was high, but shipped over land in wagons when it was not. In 1850, the furnace was purchased by the Green, Benner and Company, but shut down in 1861 due to the American Civil War.
