Miscellaneous Historical Documents of Ohio University
Scope and Content
The Miscellaneous Historical Documents of Ohio University collection contains a wide array of items from the late eighteenth, nineteenth, and early twentieth centuries. All of them relate in some way to the early history of the university, including papers on land surveys and deeds, a promissory note to pay for uniforms, a fragment of an early student's journal, notes on judiciary cases, and an indenture to the university. The original labels and file numbers have been kept; however, several folders have been removed due to irrelevancy or a need to be processed separately. These folders include numbers 2, 4, 6, 10, 13 to 15, and 18 through 22. A file #23 was added after the collection was initially processed. Each individual document is contained in a separate folder, and all should be handled with extreme care due to their great age.
