History of the Lark Quartet
The Lark Quartet (LQ), founded in 1985, includes woodwind instruments and pianos. This music group conducted a three-year residency at Ohio University (OU) from 1995 to 1998. At that time, the group members were Diane Pascal and Jennifer Orchard on violin, Anna Kruger on the viola (the only founding member remaining at the time), and Astrid Schween on the cello. During their residency, LQ's goal was primarily to develop new audiences for chamber music through outreach, programs, and concerts. They hosted numerous 'lunchbag' concerts on College Green to draw students in; apparently successfully, as these were held at regular intervals throughout the three year stay. LQ also invited numerous other well-known musicians to play with them, such as Gary Graffman and Edgar Meyers. When the group wasn't garnering support around the OU campus, they made numerous excursions to Southeastern Ohio schools and gave performances and string sectional lessons to student orchestras and Physics classes.
