According to Eric W. Stewart, his grandmother, Marjorie Hindley, was born in 1892 in Huron County, Ohio. North Fairfield was the center of her universe. She attended summer sessions at Ohio University in 1912, 13, and 14 in order to establish and maintain her teaching credentials. She taught in Fitchville, a bit east of North Fairfield on the same state highway. She married Thayer Perry in 1915 and determined that neither of their children, Donald and Doris, were going to be farmers, so when the time came, off both of them went to Ohio University to find their own paths. Thus began a string of four generations (and counting) of Ohio University students in the family.
