Circle K International scrapbook collection
Scope and Content
The Circle K International (CKI) scrapbook collection spans from 1977 to 2004 and documents the activities of the CKI at Ohio University. The collection includes thirteen scrapbooks and one binder of CKI magazines.
Each scrapbook represents one year. Events recorded in the scrapbooks include: Fall Training Conference; Leadership Training Conference; Ohio District Conference; Circle K International Convention; Kiwanis Pancake Day; Teeter totter marathon for American Cancer Society, Muscular Dystrophy Association and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; Valentines to the elderly at Hickory Creek Nursing Home; Stroud's Run trash cleanup and picnic; Canned Food Drive for My Sister's Place--Women's Crises Center; Chaperoning Beacon School (for handicapped) children at OU Baseball game; Slave Auction (labor services for Kiwanis members for donations); and Year-end picnic. The binder of CKI magazines includes nineteen issues dating from October 1985 to January/February 1991.

History of Circle K Internatioanal
Circle K International (CKI) is a subdivision of the Kiwanis Club with college students as members, whom strive to serve the community via service-based projects and fundraisers. The Ohio University (OU) chapter of CKI was originally chartered in December of 1953 and was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Athens. It was the 66th club in CKI with its Charter Number being 66. The club lost its original charter sometime after 1966. On September 8, 1972, CKI at OU was rechartered with the KCA again as the sponsor. When the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Athens (KCDA) was chartered on January 25, 1973, the KCDA became the co-sponsor of the CKI.
