Milo Wilkinson Diary
Scope and Content
The Milo Wilkinson (MW) diary spans from January 1864 to July 1864 and details MW's experience traveling in the Union Army as a soldier and military recruiter. A majority of the entries deal with travels around Ohio. He has detailed the times of his train journeys, where he ate, where he slept, and the people with whom he came into contact. These included recruits, soldiers, and friends and family. MW also mentions troop movements and other public war news. In May and June, he wrote of his journey down to Resaca, Georgia. He details skirmishes that occurred along the way. The diary entries end shortly after MW is shot in battle in Dallas, Georgia. From June 9 to July 23, the diary is filled with a list of MW's expenses.
There is a transcription of the diary made by the Ohio University Archives in December 2005
