History of United Paperworkers Internation Union, Local 988
United Paperworkers International Union, Local 988 was based in Chillicothe, Ohio. On January 4, 1999 the United Paperworkers International Union merged with the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union to form the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International Union (PACE). PACE subsequently merged with the United Steel Workers of America to create the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied-Industrial and Service Workers International Union, or abbreviated to United Steelworkers.

Acquisition Information
The Ohio University Archives received the collection from Marvin Riley, International Representative of Local 988 in April 1978. It was acquired as part of the Ohio Labor History Project.

Ohio University will entertain requests to photocopy reasonable amounts of material from the collection for the convenience of individual researchers.
