History of The Institute for Democracy in Education
The Institute for Democracy in Education (IDE) was created in 1986 as part of what is now the Ohio University College of Education and Human Services. The IDE provides research and consultation services to schools and related agencies serving K-12 students, as well as their families and other caregivers. According to the first newsletter, IDE's purpose is to "help educators promote school and classroom activities which foster the democratic empowerment of students."
