History of International Typographical Union, Local 482
The International Typographical Union (ITU), Local 482 based in Athens, Ohio, was founded in 1912. In 1986, the national ITU merged with the Communication Workers of America in order to retain benefits as membership figures continued to decline. As a result of this merger, Local 482 dissolved.

Acquisition Information
The Ohio University Archives received the original collection from George Pollitt, President of the Local 482, in February 1978. It was acquired as part of the Ohio Labor History Project. The supplement was a gift from Mr. Marion Crawley, a former member and officer of the Local 482 in November 1986.
Existence and Location of Copies
Ohio University will entertain requests to photocopy reasonable amounts of material from the collection for the convenience of individual researchers.
