COEMM consists of two grant-funded programs: the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) and the Center of Excellence (COE). With grant funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the HCOP and the COE administered a variety of programs for minority and disadvantaged students, with the aim of creating a pipeline to the health professions beginning at middle-school age and continuing through successful completion of formal training for one of the health care professions (medicine, physical therapy, etc.).
