History of the Appalachian Ohio Regional Transit Authority
The Appalachian Ohio Regional Transit Authority (AORTA) began as a project of the Tri-County Community Action Agency in 1971 providing bus service to the counties of Athens, Hocking and parts of Perry. AORTA was incorporated as a separate entity in 1974.
