The John Rood papers consist of a few photographs of Rood, exhibition pamphlets, newspaper clippings about Rood, a paperback publication about Rood from the Lawhead Press titled "Wood Sculpture", and letters written to family members detailing travels and Rood's exhibitions.

Inscription "To my brother Robert Rood - John Rood Christmas, 1940". The booklet is in poor condition with stains, pencil markings, and a title page that has been ripped and taped.

Includes three letters. "Dear Family" letter dated Sunday, May 29th, with 1650 Dupont Avenue South, Minneapolis letterhead; "Dear Kay and Bob" letter, undated, on 1650 Dupont Avenue South, Minneapolis letterhead; "Dear One and All" from Regina-Palast Hotel in Munich, dated Wednesday, September 15, 10:00am.

One letter, "Dear Family" from Winter Palace, Luxor, Egypt dated Christmas Night, 1950, signed MOTHER.

Two letters. "Dear Everybody" from Piarco Guest House in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, dated Friday A.M. 1-23-53, and "Dear John and Family" from Bluehaven Hotel, Tuesday March 3, 1953, signed D.B.A.R. with addendum of letter "Dear Dorothy and John" from Kenneth and Edith Sills, at sea near Aden, January 9, 1953.

Includes three letters. "Dear Family" from the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco dated Friday July 8, 1955; "Dear Family" from the Hotel Statler in Los Angeles, California dated Monday June 27, 1955; and Rood Chronicles No. 3 from Bangkok dated December 9, 1955.

Includes two letters and an envelope. "Dears" from Stockholm dated Sunday evening August 30, 1959; and a letter from the Kurhaus Hotel in Bad Kissingen, Germany dated Wednesday September 9, 1959.

Includes two letters, both addressed "To continue---", one from Fez, Morocco dated March 8, 1960, the other from Marrakesh dated Sunday March 13, 1960.
