Please join us to honor Dr. Eddith Dashiell on her retirement after 33 incredible and impactful years of teaching journalism students at Ohio University. Dashiell, who has served as director of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism for five years, was both the first woman and the first African American in the position. She has also served as the associate director of undergraduate studies in the school and as associate dean of graduate studies in the Scripps College of Communication. Prior to working at Ohio University, Dr. Dashiell worked as a broadcast journalist in Tennessee and Missouri and taught at Middle Tennessee State University.

Dr. Dashiell has served as a beloved educator and mentor to many. She is also a 2025 inductee into the Ohio Communication Hall of Fame. Please join us to honor and celebrate her on Friday, April 11, with remarks beginning at 2 p.m. in Schoonover Center 145, with a reception to follow. Light refreshments will be served.
