Nicole Seisler’s public art project invites participants to join together on local walks with bloc ks of wet porcelain in-hand\, which they use to make impressions of archite ctural details that visually and culturally define a place. The raw clay ac ts as a conduit that heightens our individual sensation of touch and physic al connection to our surroundings. The resulting ‘souvenirs’ become record s of particular moments in time and place. One side of each ceramic object captures texture and pattern lifted from surfaces nearby\, while the other side retains lines and marks from the hand that once held it. \n\nParticipa nts are invited to make an Athens souvenir by joining this community walk o n Court Street. As the Athens collection of Hand Pressed Souvenirs grows th roughout the duration of the exhibition\, so too does the evidence of a com munity’s relationship to place. \n\nParticipants should meet at the Ohio U niversity Alumni Gateway\, on the corner of Court Street and Union Street.\ n\nPaid\, parallel parking is available along Court Street\, Union Street\, and Washington Street. There is also a paid parking garage (Athens City Ga rage) on Washington Street. Ohio University's parking lots are also free on Saturdays.
