DESCRIPTION:The Physics & Astronomy Colloquium Series presents Natalie Klco
of University of Washington on “Calculating Nature Naturally\,” on Friday
\, Oct. 23\, at 4:10 p.m. at an Online Departmental Colloquium.\n\nJoin Mic

rence ID: 664 725 259#Abstract: Studying nature directly from fundamental d
egrees of freedom is often computationally limited by physical characterist
ics of exponentially growing configuration (Hilbert) spaces with particle n
umber and signal-to-noise problems. This leaves many systems of interest to
nuclear and particle physics intractable for known algorithms with current
and foreseeable classical computational resources. By leveraging their nat
ural capacity to describe dynamic entangled many-body states\, the use of q
uantum systems themselves to form a computational framework is envisioned t
o be non-perturbatively advantageous.\n\nIn this talk\, I will share a deve
loping perspective on the entanglement structure of quantum fields and disc
uss implications for their efficient simulation on quantum computational ar
chitectures.
