REC 4910 - Internship in Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies
Provides students with an opportunity to apply lessons learned over the course of their studies in the field of parks, recreation, and leisure studies in a supervised professional internship experience. Students work with their internship supervisor to carefully plan an internship experience that offers appropriate challenges aligned with their career goals as well as opportunities to assess their professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions in relation to these goals.
Requisites: RSP 4100 and permission
Credit Hours: 12

Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 24.0 internship

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to practice principles of professionalism and ethical conduct in the workplace.
- Students will be able to employ interpersonal skills and attitudes necessary for effective interaction and communication in the workplace.
- Students will be able to apply academic preparation in fulfilling professional responsibilities in specific organizations in the field of parks, recreation, and leisure studies.
- Students will be able to complete a self-evaluation that critically examines the extent to which their academic coursework and internship experience have prepared them to pursue their career goals in the field of parks, recreation, and leisure studies.
