Program Overview
The information and telecommunication systems minor is for any student whose career preparation will benefit from a systematic grounding in telecom networking. Today, communication increasingly is mediated by electronic networks, especially computer-based networks. Modern business practices are grounded in computer data networks and telephone voice networks–graduates who are comfortable with and knowledgeable of networking practices will have a competitive advantage over those who are not.

Opportunities Upon Graduation
The information and telecommunications minor will give students a competitive advantage in the job market over others who do not have at least basic knowledge of modern telecommunication networks. The ITS minor is often completed by students in business, media arts, and visual communication.
Requirements
Minor Hours Requirement
The information and telecommunication systems minor requires a minimum of 19 hours.
Required Courses
Complete the following courses:
- ITS 2140 - Introduction to Information and Telecommunication Systems Credit Hours: 3
- ITS 2300 - Data Networking Credit Hours: 4
- ITS 4020 - Strategic Decision Making in Information and Telecommunication Industries Credit Hours: 3
Electives
Complete three of the following courses for a minimum 9 hours:
- ITS 2900 - Special Topics in Information and Telecommunication Systems Credit Hours: 1 - 15
- ITS 3019 - Information and Telecommunications Policy I Credit Hours: 3
- ITS 3021 - Information and Telecommunications Policy II Credit Hours: 3
- ITS 3100 - Internet Applications and Network Systems Credit Hours: 4
