Program Overview
Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies provides an opportunity to explore the phenomenon of gender and sexuality and their intersection with race, ethnicity, class, and other elements of diversity. The program is interdisciplinary, which makes for a rich variety of course offerings across many fields. Students may choose from over 70 courses offered across 20 different departments throughout the University.

Opportunities Upon Graduation
A degree in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies prepares students in critical thinking and effective communication, essential skills that can be applied to a wide variety of careers. Graduates can pursue fulfilling careers in areas such as equity and diversity, management, law, public health, counseling, social work, research, creative writing, and community education. Potential employers for graduates with a degree in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies include, but are not limited to, the following: non-profit organizations; government agencies; women’s service organizations; medical centers; journalism entities; institutions of higher education; youth and family agencies; public relations agencies; etc. Additionally, a high percentage of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies graduates pursue graduate school opportunities.

University-wide Graduation Requirements
Ohio University requires the completion of a minimum of 120 semester hours for the conferral of a bachelor’s degree. This program can be completed within that 120-hour requirement.
