Make a Gift with a Donor Advised Fund
The Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is an increasingly popular way to make a charitable gift. DAFs can provide you with immediate tax benefits while making your charitable giving easier. Here are two simple ways you can make a gift through your DAF:
- Make an outright gift now by recommending a grant to The Ohio University Foundation.
- Create a succession plan to recommend that The Ohio University Foundation receive all or a portion of the fund value upon the termination of the fund.
You can select the option that best suits your philanthropic and financial goals to support the The Ohio University Foundation. Just contact your Donor Advised Fund administrator to recommend a grant to OUF or to discuss a succession plan.
If you include The Ohio University Foundation in your plans, please let us know and be sure to use our legal name and federal tax ID.

Creating a Donor Advised Fund
Creating a donor advised fund can provide you with immediate tax benefits while making your charitable giving easier for years to come.
Simplify Your Giving
A Donor Advised Fund set up through The Ohio University Foundation is your own charitable fund, named after you and administered by us. Once your fund is created, you can make contributions, which we will invest to benefit Ohio University and the causes you care about. You can advise us to make grants from your fund to support the work of Ohio University and your favorite charitable causes.
How a Donor Advised Fund Works
- You make an irrevocable gift to establish the fund.
- You or another named individual becomes the DAF advisor.
- The advisor can recommend how the asset is invested and the asset grows tax-free.
- The advisor then recommends grants to organizations that qualify to receive tax deductible donations and funds are distributed.
