Enabling or disabling auto-complete prompts

This article describes a feature in OBI for auto-completing prompts, and details the steps to enable or disable this feature.

Auto-complete prompts feature

Available with the October 2023 upgrade of OBI is the ability to enable or disable prompts to automatically complete with a valid value. If the feature is enabled, as you enter a value into a prompt field the result set will narrow to display only the valid, matching values of prompt values.  

If no value is valid, and the user runs the search with an invalid value, no error will be displayed in the prompt that the value is invalid. The user may perform the search and may not receive any results returned. This behavior is the same regardless of whether the prompt auto-complete feature is enabled or disabled.

When the auto-complete prompts is enabled, the list of values displays only values that match what you have typed into the prompt field.

When the auto-complete prompts is disabled, there is no list of valid values that appears, regardless of what you have typed into the prompt field.

To enable prompt auto-complete

1. Navigate to the person iconin the upper right corner of the OBI window. Select the icon.

2. Select My Account.
   

3. Locate the field named Prompts Auto-Complete.
   

4. Change the value of the Prompts Auto-Completefield to On, if it is not already enabled.
   

5. Select the OK buttonat the bottom of the panel. The auto-complete feature is now enabled!

To disable prompt auto-complete

1. Navigate to the person iconin the upper right corner of the OBI window. Select the icon.

2. Select My Account.
   

3. Locate the field named Prompts Auto-Complete.
   

4. Change the value of the Prompts Auto-Completefield to Off, if it is already enabled.
   

5. Select the OK buttonat the bottom of the panel. The auto-complete feature is now disabled!

Outcome:You are now able to enable and disable the Prompt Auto-Complete feature in OBI.
