Locating and using your PID number

Description

The PID is Ohio University's way of identifying you without needing to use a sensitive piece of information like your Social Security number. PIDs start with "P" followed by nine digits.

  • Example: P123456789

PIDs are listed on your Ohio University identification card and as part of other records. Your official PID does not necessarily give anyone access to your personal OHIO information. Services that involve your personal records should always require positive physical identification and, for online services, your OHIO ID (the first part of your OHIO email address) and password. Faculty and staff are permitted to include PIDs in university correspondence, including email, as needed.
