Attendance Tracking: Top Hat

Description

The Top Hat student response system utilizes students' personal devices (smart phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) combined with a random 4-digit attendance code to track attendance.

Access

• OHIO faculty and staff

• Active OHIO ID required for use

• Navigate to  https://app.tophat.com/login  and search for Ohio University. If you have not logged in before you will be prompted to sign-up.

Who can access

Instructors/Presenters

Instructors generate a 4-digit attendance code in Top Hat that students will need to input to be marked as present.

• System requirements (Instructor)

• Creating your Top Hat account (Instructor)

• Creating your Top Hat course (Instructor)

• Adding and managing students (Instructor)

• Initiating attendance code before or during a slide presentation (Instructor)

• Enabling secure geolocation attendance (Instructor)

Students/Participants

Students check in attendance by submitting the session's attendance code provided using a mobile application (iOS or Android) or web browser, or by texting the attendance code to the Top Hat SMS response number.
