Bobcat Parents and Families,
Knowing how to support your child while they're in college can be a challenging transition for parents. Believe me, I've been there! The Dean of Students office
is here to help students in distress, talk students through their options, and get them in touch with resources that can help. The well-being of our students is our top priority, so please help us advocate for their safety in a time of need.
I recognize the important role that parents play in their student's lives, so I strongly encourage you to reach out to us
if your student experiences an emergency such as a serious accident, a physical or mental illness, sexual assault, or other situations, whether it be on or off-campus. Not only are we here to assist students, but also we want to be a resource to parents and families.
Kathy A Fahl,
Dean of Students
Relax (But, safely.)
The semester is already half over -- time flies when you're having fun, right?! Making the most out of the last few months of the semester is important, but as you're embracing the warmer weather, celebrating milestones, and reconnecting with friends, let's make sure we're continuing to foster a safe and inclusive environment for all Bobcats.
Drink Responsibly
We get it; it's been a long year and warmer months are on the horizon. As you're soaking it all in, make responsible decisions — learn the negatives of high-risk drinking and how to get and give help if you believe someone is at risk due to alcohol misuse .
Know safety guidelines
Your safety is important to us, and we can all be better bystanders when we are informed about critical tips, guidelines, and resources that can help us call out acts of violence so you can stay on track with a healthy, happy pathway to graduation.
TAKE A HIKE! (No, really.)
Spring is rounding the corner, and Athens is filled with scenic hikes just minutes from campus. Find group hikes or trails to check out on your own .
Not a hiker? Consider other options for getting active, like intramural sports! Choose from sports including soccer, flag football, volleyball, spike ball, and more. Registration for spring closes March 22.
STAY CONNECTED.
Make sure to take advantage of all the events happening before you leave for break, like exhibits at the Kennedy Museum of Art , Marti & Stewi Craft Night , and the Piano Duo concert .
