After You Apply as an International Student

Activate Your OHIO ID

Activate your OHIO ID! Your birth date and your personal identification (PID) number (provided in your application acknowledgement letter) are all you need to officially activate your online OHIO access, including email. 

Make sure you check your OHIO email regularly. All official correspondence , including scholarship notification and your I-20 , will be sent to your Ohio University email account.

Submit Required Additional Materials

Some programs have more selective criteria above and beyond general admission guidelines and require submission of additional application materials beyond general admission requirements. You should review the requirements for your major and submit any additional required materials.

Submit Required Financial Documents

To apply for a student visa, you must be issued a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20) by the university.This requires you submit financial documentation demonstrating you have the required funds to support your academic and living expenses for a 9-month (2 semester) academic year.  

Ohio University will not issue an I-20 until this documentation is submitted and reviewed. Please reach out to the Office of International Student and Scholar Services at isss@ohio.edu for questions or concerns about this process. (Note: The name of the sponsor must match the name on the bank account and must also total at least $45,033.)

Once you've activated your OHIO ID, you can check your application status online 24 hours a day, seven days a week! Statuses are updated at least nightly. Please remember that while we may have received your application materials, we can provide updates only on those materials that have been processed.
