A new feature was added to Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) on April 17, 2021, that allows the export of raw report data directly to an Excel file. Previously when users needed data in a raw data format, they would need to export the report to a CSV (comma separated values) file format. Once saved, the CSV file could be converted to Excel so that it would be in a usable format for analysis. However, if the user were to forget to convert their CSV file to Excel, any formatting, pivot tables, etc. that were added to the file will be lost. Using this new feature to export data directly to Excel minimizes the risk of users losing their work.
Users may choose to continue to export formatted reports to Excel as well. You will notice that there are now two Excel export options in OBI. The difference between these two Excel export features is explained in more detail below:
