
Professor | Communication Studies
Dr. Nicole Blau is a Full Professor of Communication Studies at Ohio Lancaster, where she has been a valued faculty member since 2008. She previously served as Associate Professor from 2015 to 2023 and Assistant Professor from 2008 to 2015.
Dr. Blau’s scholarly work focuses on communication in interpersonal, family, group, and health contexts. Her research has been published in respected journals including Communication Quarterly , Journal of Health Communication , Ohio Communication Journal , and Florida Communication Journal . In addition to her journal work, she is the author of Group Dynamics: Connecting Through Communication and co-author of Family Communication: Relationship Foundations .
With a strong interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning, Dr. Blau is committed to creating transformative learning experiences for her students. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Kentucky (2008), a Master of Arts in Communication from Miami University (2002), and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Bowling Green State University (1998).
Dr. Blau continues to be a dynamic contributor to both academic scholarship and the Ohio University community, combining her passion for research, teaching, and student mentorship.
