Cybersecurity Awareness Month is well underway and learning the best ways to fight phishing is crucial.
Phishing is a type of social engineering attack that is often used to steal personal information. Cybercriminals usually do this by crafting emails that appear to be from a reputable company or individual that ask for your information. Once you submit your information, the cybercriminal uses it for their own gains.
There is no concrete way to prevent phishing attacks, meaning awareness is our strongest line of defense. Here at Ohio University, we want to arm our community with helpful resources to help identify phishing messages and prevent our community from falling victim to scams. Check out OIT’s phishing prevention tips and help fight the phish.
