The Hugh M. Culbertson Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) at Ohio University was recognized during this year’s 2022 PRSSA International Conference in Dallas, Texas for the chapter’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts by being awarded the 2022 Dr. F.H. Teahan Award for Chapter Diversity.
Scripps PRSSA has received the Dr. F.H. Teahan Awards for five consecutive years and was previously recognized as being the gold standard of all PRSSA Chapters worldwide by being awarded the 2021 Dr. F.H. Teahan Award for Outstanding Chapter.
The qualifications for this award include an outstanding commitment to diversity by performing activities to promote, generate awareness, and encourage diversity within the chapter. Over the last year, Scripps PRSSA has put diversity, equity, and inclusion front and center through conversation via chapter events and campaigns on the Scripps PRSSA social media.
“This is an incredible honor for our chapter,” Olivia Strauss, 2022-2023 chapter President, said. “As future communicators, it is vital that our chapter and our members set an example by educating ourselves and facilitating conversations of change, and I am extremely proud of how far Scripps PRSSA has come.”
Scripps PRSSA was also recently named a Star Chapter for the ninth consecutive year. A Star Chapter is recognized by PRSSA National for achieving eight out of eleven requirements related to professional development and relationship building. These include holding a community service project, high school outreach, attending National Conference and recruiting diverse majors.
